When we started
There wasn't an engine that we were comfortable with for this project, so created our own.
Being unexperienced, we had quite rocky start.
TODAY
Eventually, the engine made for AFTER became our internal
1engine.
The engine's core is cross platform and modules are a combination of C and C++.
The graphics use modern OpenGL to perform deferred shading. It uses Havok for physics and animation. Lua and JS are used for the external scripting and mod system.
While it may not be on par with the industry standards, the engine improves on a weekly basis.
All projects made in
1engine are scoped with the end goal of using their aspects for AFTER - even the 2D ones.
